Great organ pipeworkThis is the pipework of the Great organ, played from the middle keyboard on the console. They are all different shapes and sizes to give different tone and pitch to each note. From right to left they are; tromba, wald flute (wood), mixture, hohl flute (wood), principal, open diapason II and open diapason I. The mitred pipes on the left of the photograph are the longest pipes of the open diapason I rank. They are mitred to prevent them protruding from the top of the organ case. Back |
